Detroit, MI, March 25, 2008 -- For most Canadians, Feb. 17, 2009 will just mark
another day, but for those who pick up their television signals over the air from
nearby American stations, it could be the day of blank TV screens.

On the day that U.S. broadcasters officially convert to digital transmission and
shut down analog transmitters for good, Canadians with satellite TV, cable services,
or newer TV sets with digital tuners. It will be those who regularly watch U.S.
stations with rabbit ears or outside antennas who will notice the difference.

getting both analog and digital signals when the United States pulls the plug on

"Although Canada will make the switch in 2011, that won't help those TV viewers who
enjoy daily broadcasts from American cities such as Detroit," Dortch said.
